Law Reform: Homosexuality (Part 1)

This was an email that I sent out to some friends a few months ago about the topic of homosexuality... I've included it below because this issue has, in the last week or so, been filling our newspapers and having everyone discussing..

Check out the video on CNN! (Its free! well, at least at the time this was sent...)

I'll be adding a more complete entry on the topic once I get the time...

Hi All,

I chanced upon this CNN special report on the various Christian Gay Conversion programmes currently available in the States. Of course it is from a completely secular perspective, but I believe that it is rather balanced and it does cover a lot of the main issues.

I would encourage you to watch the short programme (both part 1 & 2 are only 11mins long). It can be found on CNN’s website (Link: Gay Conversion).

I believe that it would provide some insights as to how we, as Christians, can best reach out to the gay community (baring in mind that we DO have one in this country too).

Notice that the bulk of the criticisms laid at the entire gay conversion movement centres around the practices and methods of the Love in Action camp. I suspect that its largely because of the regimental lifestyle (apparently substantiated by biblical principles – I don’t think that the Bible actually contains that much information about homosexuality & other issues dealt with there to justify such a position) and their emphasis on children (having children committed by their parents – not going under the programme by their own choice – something that I believe Christianity places a strong emphasis on).

My prayer is that we become a people that are able to fully understand and appreciate the problems and issues which are most prevalent in our times, so that we might be better able to reach out to the "pre-believing" community around us.

Kindest regards,

Clement Ee
